Polly Jean Harvey.. Pj Harvey e o mare poeta este mostenitoarea unui Joe Strumers cu acest disc. Serios! e ceva foarte serios, Pj Harvey e o muiere senzationala.
Albumul “Let England Shake” se ocupa de diferite aspecte ale razboiului prin versurile lui si care a necesitat o mare cercetare în conflictele istorice, precum şi ascultarea melodiilor care transmit teme grandioase într-un mod uşor de înţeles, şi Polly Jean a spus că a făcut acest lucru pentru un anumit scop.
In interviul din revista NME magazine a zis : “My whole proviso for the viewpoint of this album came about from wondering if there was such a post as Official War Song Correspondent. Because I know there are war poets and war artists, and I thought, ‘well, where are the war songwriters?’”
Polly a adăugat că în timp ce ea este englezoaica, ea nu a vrut să isi concentreze atentia asupra naţiunii ei sau a vieţii ei, şi a încercat să includă o serie de scenarii diferite atunci când a planificat albumul. Discul are functia asta de a turna acid sulfuric peste toata muzica indie, bai e peste mult, e fucking hell … nu mai e despre noi, nu mai e intimitate, intimism, comopolitism e un om care vorbeste despre lumea in care e si in care au fost parintii ei. Galipoli acolo sau dus niste batali grozave.. Albumul a fost lansat acuma pe 14 februarie..

Ea descriere unele piese de pe album in felul urmator: “A song like ‘Written On The Forehead’ is very much about modern day Iraq. ‘Bitter Branches’, again I feel, inhabits a different era, maybe in Russia, a different world. ‘In The Dark Places’, that might be Bosnia. You don’t know where it is. I was wanting to show the way that history repeats itself, really, and so in some ways it doesn’t matter what time it was, because the endless cycle goes on and on and on.”
Am inregistrat live aproape toate piesele”, a declarat PJ Harvey, vorbind despre acest album, inregistrat intr-o biserica din Dorset. “Nu stabilisem nicio regula. Din nu stiu ce motiv, cu totii simteam ca ne aflam in acel moment intr-un loc foarte bun si aveam in noi multa energie, intensitate si vitalitate. A fost o experienta cu adevarat placuta”
